Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (ESV). This indicates parents have a responsibility to raise their children in a righteous manner, and if they do so, their children will grow up to live good lives. Proverbs is revered as a book of wisdom- what can it tell us about the way we educate our children today?
If we follow the logic of this verse, the opposite must be true: if we raise our children in the wrong way, they will continue down a dangerous path. Looking at our schools today, we must ask ourselves if we are raising our children in a way which will lead them to live good lives as adults.
Sadly, today’s schools are not filling students’ heads with good and true things. Instead, students are exposed to a deceitful and inappropriate worldview. Critical Race Theory and the LGBT agendas permeate every class. Too many of our students lack basic proficiency in reading and math. They lack knowledge of history and economics. And they lack the cultivation of virtue and faith.
Every parent wants the best for their child. What we have to realize is the significance of how our children’s education will impact their futures. Each day, children are shaped and molded. What kind of life do you want for your child? What sort of person do you hope they become? The good news is you have great influence over your child’s future. Consider these questions when contemplating their education, and always remember that you have choices.
