Naples, FL — In a 5-0 vote, the Collier County Commissioners voted to remove their membership from the American Library Association (ALA) at the most recent meeting.
We want to start out by thanking the Collier County Commissioners for protecting our children. Collier County now joins a growing list of counties across the nation that have removed their membership from the ALA. The Florida Citizens Alliance for many years has advocated for not allowing radical theories and politics to creep into our schools and libraries.
The ALA has taken a stance of supporting drag queen story hour while at the same time trying to stop Kirk Cameron from holding a family-friendly story hour. Along with this, the American Library Association’s current president has promoted radical theories that seek to disrupt everything that is stable. Besides drag queen story hours, the ALA is one of the main reasons we have explicit materials in the schools.
The Florida Citizens Alliance has teamed up with like minded organizations to promote this issue and work to have other counties remove their membership. Again we want to thank the Collier County Commissioners for protecting our children.
