CALL TO ACTION: Collier County’s Superintendent Patton Replacement

by | Jun 26, 2022

On June 13, Collier County’s Superintendent Patton announced she will be retiring at the end of the 2022-23 school year. In the next few months (most likely August 23rd ) the voters of Collier County will be electing 3 Board members for the next 4 years. There is a distinct possibility that School Board incumbents in District 1, 3 and 5 will not be elected in either the August 23 Primary or the Nov. 8 General Election.

In the August 23 Primary, any candidate in districts 1, 3, and 5 who receives 50% plus 1 vote majority in this county-wide race is elected. If no one receives a majority, the top two candidates in each district will proceed to the General Election Nov 8. This means each voter gets to vote in each of the District 1, 3 and 5 races.

The purpose of this Action Alert and petition is to allow Collier voters to voice in the strongest terms that the current School Board should NOT attempt to set the terms and conditions or try to hire Ms. Patton’s replacement before the 2022 election results are final.

The will of the voters should be respected, and the newly elected School Board should make the hiring decision including contract terms and conditions for Ms. Patton’s replacement.

But if you take the time to change it (or at least SOME of it), it indicates that you care enough about the issue to spend some time constructing your message.

NOTE: if you submit the petition via a mobile device and receive an “invalid email” message, please make sure you’re manually entering all the petition form fields (not using auto-fill of any kind).
